What Is Vaping
What is an electronic cigarette?
An electronic cigarette or e-cig uses a heating coil to produce a vapor from an e-juice made up of 4 ingredients, Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), flavour and nicotine.
An e-cig is made up of two basic components, an atomiser, often called a clearomizer, and a power source such as a battery device, mechanical or variable voltage mod.
Propylene Glycol (PG) is a much thinner tasteless liquid. PG produces more of a “throat hit” than VG does, which simulates the feel of smoking better.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is a thick, sweet liquid. VG produces luscious clouds of vapor. VG also imparts a sweeter taste to your liquid.
E-juice flavour is made up of food grade flavouring commonly used in everyday food products.
An atomiser or clearomizer is the component contains the heating coil, a wick and usually a tank holding the e-juice.
Battery Devices, like mods are devices that provide power to an atomiser. Battery devices are a single component made up of a battery, a connection for the atomiser, a power switch and sometimes an option to vary the power output to the atomiser. Battery Devices are very popular for beginners as they are very affordable and easy to use.
While battery devices contain electrical components, Mech Mods are purely mechanical in operation, they hold a battery (bought separately) and use a mechanical switch to operate. Mechanical Mods are popular because if their design simplicity and reliability. The down side to mechanical mods is that they cannot vary power output on there own, they require a more advanced knowledge to operate to the fullest and generally they are more expensive than other vaping options.
Variable Voltage/variable wattage (VV/VW) Mods are a cross between battery devices and mechanical mods. They require a battery (bought separately) however they also contain the electronic components to vary voltage and wattage, allowing for user preferred vape settings.
